The state police commissioner must create and maintain a website to inform the public about semi-automatic rifles, semi-automatic shotguns, semi-automatic pistols or other illegal weapons under these regulations. The website must contain information that allows the public to identify the relevant features prohibited by these provisions, as well as the make and model of the weapons subject to registration.6 Semi-automatic rifle, semi-automatic shotgun or semi-automatic pistol considered an assault weapon as defined above and used before September 15. January 2013, must submit an application for registration of the assault weapon to the Superintendent of State Police no later than January 15 in the manner prescribed by the Superintendent or amend an issued firearms licence. 2014. Registration information must include the registrant`s name, date of birth, gender, race, residential address, social security number and a description of each registered firearm. Registration is not valid if the holder is prohibited or prohibited from possessing a firearm under federal or state law.
A person who knowingly fails to apply for the registration of an assault weapon by January 15, 2014, is guilty of a Class A offence. A person who unknowingly fails to register an assault weapon within the time limit set out in the law must be notified by a competent law enforcement agency of the failure and given 30 days to request registration or surrender of the weapon.
