Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Gdansk is an ideal choice for individuals who wish to gain extensive interdisciplinary knowledge. Students in our degree program deepen their knowledge about deviant behavior, including crime in the first place. As part of the program, we introduce students to issues of the determinants of crime and knowledge of the organization of the criminal justice system. We recognize criminology as a metascience that spans various research trends. We focus on the causes of crime, its phenomenology, as well as methods of combating pathologies. An important component of the curriculum are courses in forensic medicine, psychopathology, rehabilitation pedagogy and criminology. As part of their studies, students become familiar with the philosophy and sociology of punishment and crime prevention. The conference includes the presentation of problems in a comparative context, taking into account existing achievements and ongoing activities of organisations and institutions with an international and pan-European scope.
